Hi, I’m Yi — a Chinese-Canadian education researcher, a father, and a restless tinkerer with ideas. Behind the Papers is where I think in the open.

The name has two faces: the academic papers I work on, and everything that happens behind them — the half-formed questions, the reading notes, the detours that never survive into a citation. This is a digital garden, not a blog. It’s a public personal knowledge-management space where I grow ideas by sharing the process of thinking, not only the polished end result. So expect notes that are raw, fragmented, and occasionally a little absurd — seeds lying in muddy soil, waiting to sprout.

One of those seeds grew into a whole theme: Fog of Edu, my exploration of the “fog” that still surrounds education and AI. But the garden has outgrown that single plot — it now reaches into family, knowledge, writing, and the slow question of who I’m becoming.

  • Fog of Edu — education, AI, and the limits of what we can see
  • 02. Education and AI — the core research thread
  • Family education · knowledge management & writing · “who am I?” — growing soon

Every note here is linked to others. Open the graph to see how the ideas connect, and follow whichever thread pulls at you. 🌱

This page is a placeholder I’ll keep tending — like everything in a garden, it’s never quite finished.
